We are strangers
You were born before I
Alone
In solitude
We did not share space
Then, and so it remained
You kept buying blocks
You wanted your island
You loved the loneliness of being lonely
Small talk does not exist here
Communication feels unnecessary
Smiles a mere form of formality
Hands raise for exercise
Paths cross when warranted
Observed celebrations celebrated
I no longer have that desire to know you
So we shall remain forever
Dwellers of single spaces
Extending both homes as we age
Building nurseries in backyards
Bearing fruits of space
Widening the area with its beautiful color of silence
